Hi relativity[edit]
Hi! My name is Starsplitterfanfare, and I might have one (or two) questions to ask. Ok 1. How do you edit semi protected articles? because I tried to edit one and it said that there was an error. 2. Does my name violate the username policy, because my username is pretty lengthy, If it does, I will request to change it. thank you for listening, bye! Starsplitterfanfare~enwiki (talk) 17:04, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Starsplitterfanfare~enwiki: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! For your first question, semi-protected articles can only be edited once a user has been on Wikipedia for four days and made ten edits— also being called confirmed. See Wikipedia:Rough guide to semi-protection. You have made more than ten edits, but you haven't been here for four days, which is the problem. For your second question, no, it does not. Having a long username is not preferable since it can be confusing to other editors (see WP:UNCONF), but your username is fine. Cheers, and let me know if you have any further questions Relativity ⚡️ 17:17, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – May 2024[edit]
News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2024).
- Phase I of the 2024 requests for adminship review has concluded. Several proposals have passed outright and will proceed to implementation, including creating a discussion-only period (3b) and administrator elections (13) on a trial basis. Other successful proposals, such as creating a reminder of civility norms (2), will undergo further refinement in Phase II. Proposals passed on a trial basis will be discussed in Phase II, after their trials conclude. Further details on specific proposals can be found in the full report.
- Partial action blocks are now in effect on the English Wikipedia. This means that administrators have the ability to restrict users from certain actions, including uploading files, moving pages and files, creating new pages, and sending thanks. T280531
- The arbitration case Conflict of interest management has been closed.
- This may be a good time to reach out to potential nominees to ask if they would consider an RfA.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2024 to reduce the number of unreviewed articles in the new pages feed. Currently, there is a backlog of over 15,000 articles awaiting review. Sign up here to participate!
- Voting for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) election is open until 9 May 2024. Read the voting page on Meta-Wiki and cast your vote here!
Adoption[edit]
Hello! Are you willing to adopt me through the Adopt-A-User program? I would like to learn about counter-vandalism and maybe NPP. I'm also interested in just learning how to edit Wikipedia better in general, too. I hope you're having a nice day! GoldRomean (talk) 02:53, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- @GoldRomean: Hey, sorry for the slow response. Unfortunately, I am very busy in real life right now, and am unable to commit to adopting anyone. I also am not a new pages patroller, although I do help out at AfC. I'd like to create a more extensive training course, similar to User:WormTT/Adopt, but I just don't think that that's feasible for me right now. If you have any questions, though, don't be afraid to ask me! Cheers Relativity ⚡️ 03:02, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- That's fine (and very understandable). I won't hesitate to ask you any questions I may have. Thanks, and I hope to see you around! GoldRomean (talk) 03:15, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
Question from Thulaninalaofficial (14:57, 3 May 2024)[edit]
How to add a template please --Thulaninalaofficial (talk) 14:57, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Thulaninalaofficial: See Help:Template, or Help:A quick guide to templates. On that note, your username may violate the username policy. Usernames can't be promotional, as yours seems to be. They also can't imply shared use. We definitely want you to help edit Wikipedia constructively, and so you probably should change your username. See WP:CHU. If you're planning to edit articles relating to your company, you must follow the paid contribution disclosure. Anyways, cheers, and let me know if you have any further questions. Question from Corpusmorpus (22:27, 4 May 2024)[edit]
Hiya Relativity,
I recently came across an image on a videogame page that purports to be a screenshot but appears to be fanart. Should I rectify the description or remove the image entirely?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ValleyofAvalar.jpg --Corpusmorpus (talk) 22:27, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Corpusmorpus: Hey, and sorry for the late response. I don't think you can really do anything about it unless you are absolutely sure that the image is fanart, and not a screenshot. You could take it up with the original uploader, User:StevenBjerke97, who hasn't been very active lately but might see a talk page message. Cheers, and let me know if you have any further questions Relativity ⚡️ 03:07, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:
- Proposals 2 and 9b (phase II discussion): Add a reminder of civility norms at RfA and Require links for claims of specific policy violations
- Proposal 3b (in trial): Make the first two days discussion-only
- Proposal 13 (in trial): Admin elections
- Proposal 14 (implemented): Suffrage requirements
- Proposals 16 and 16c (phase II discussion): Allow the community to initiate recall RfAs and Community recall process based on dewiki
- Proposal 17 (phase II discussion): Have named Admins/crats to monitor infractions
- Proposal 24 (phase II discussion): Provide better mentoring for becoming an admin and the RfA process
- Proposal 25 (implemented): Require nominees to be extended confirmed
See the project page for a full list of proposals and their outcomes. A huge thank-you to everyone who has participated so far :) looking forward to seeing lots of hard work become a reality in phase II. theleekycauldron (talk), via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:09, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Question from Francisco Josè Sepùlveda y Campos on Liberalism and the Limits of Justice (16:01, 6 May 2024)[edit]
Hello.- A.- ¿ How can I write my articles and /or edits outside Wikipedia app ? B.- May you suggest, please, an easy editor for Headings and Links. And where to unload. C. If I write ii another language, ¿ is there a means to translate into antherton tongue?. Mostly from Spanish to Enlish. Than ks in advance. --Francisco Josè Sepùlveda y Campos (talk) 16:01, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Francisco Josè Sepùlveda y Campos: Although we'd love to have you contribute to the English Wikipedia, perhaps you'll be better suited to contributing to a Wikipedia in a language you're more comfortable in. Maybe the Spanish Wikipedia? Thank you, Relativity ⚡️ 03:05, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- I think I can handle English as well as Spanish. As merely human presumption and proof I`m forwarding copy of some sonnets through which my English Teacher in 1961 at Loyola High School, Los Angeles congratulated me and swore, before he died, he`d out whom I had copied it from. He died 20 years ago.

- @Francisco Josè Sepùlveda y Campos Unfortunately, it is difficult for me to understand what you are trying to say. One common thing that people think is that the English Wikipedia is the "best" or "leader" Wikipedia, when, really, it's not. We need people to help out at the Wikipedia where they're strongest in.
